The Modern Bra Is Finally Serving Women’s Needs

My daughter was so cute when she looked up at me and said “I can’t wait to grow up and wear the pretty things you do momma”. Little did she know that would also include the bra for the rest of her life? It seems funny looking back now but we have come a long way with the design of the modern brassier and we are thankful for it too. Even though the patent for the brassier is about a hundred years old.

Women are thankful that we have moved into the twenty first century, moving past WWII and then into the 1950s when you can honestly say that the bra started becoming a fashion design more so than just an everyday under garment. In fact, it was the last 70s when we took a small hiatus and then found our way back to the brassier and chose to wear them with the multiple designs, shapes and sizes it was much easier to find what you wanted and when you needed it.

The woman’s bra has changed so that you can purchase a backless bra which you could picture in a one piece bathing suit. You may also envision it in a low cut corset. Another type is an adhesive bra where you would use this if you had a low cut, strapless, backless gown but still needed some support. Then there is the clear bra for the lack of imagination or wearing under shear night wear for the full effect on a model or anyone.

The push up bra comes along to provide the additional support or to give the added cleavage for a particular blouse or top or gown. It actually helps provide the image of what a women’s breast should look like covered up. Once again this is a billion dollar industry and the fashion market had its wants and wishes and models and designers are there to please everyone they can with whatever they want to wear. I read this statement and it says it the best “The evolution of the bra reflects the constantly changing idea of what an ‘ideal’ woman should look like—flat, round, pointy, conical, or even ‘natural’.” So, do you think they will ever go away like the garter belt?

As a woman you have to ask yourself…are you still wearing one.
